What are you listening to?

Hmmm there is too much metal here, sorry.

Here is something different, had this on in the car earlier. Certainly an all time classic:

Oh, I’ve been meaning to try out Wu-Tang for ages but kinda procrastinated. Thanks for the wake-up call.
(PS: YouTube’s si URL query parameter is useless Google tracking stuff to spy on how we share stuff around. Browser extensions like ClearURLs remove it.)

I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to hip-hop and stuff (not being a native English speaker does not help – typically, some spoken intros of that Wu-Tang album you linked just sound like the rambling of drunk dudes arguing for no reason to my untrained French ears ), but I do own and love a few albums, like:

Its been awhile since I listened to some WuTang. How about some Tribe Called Quest - We the People

Listened to the first few tracks, this sounds amazing! Great share.

I hope you’ll give that wu tang album a couple of listens and that it starts to grow on you, its one of the best hip hop albums of all time.

Yes! Absolutely

Sure I can get down with hip hop.

I want y’all to meet Deltron Zero and Automator.

Who says hip hop can’t be sci-fi?

Love me some Del the Funky Homosapien!

Deltron 3030 was great album. Event 2 was not as good though imo

How could it be? Deltron 3030 is one of the best concept albums of all time. Hard to be as good as that.

Here is another hip hop concept album that follows a few people as they go about their daily life until they get nuked.

Still too serious. Let’s try this

I got a three CD box-set from a shop near us, selling off their stock at ridiculous prices.

I can only find one track on YT

Deltron 3030 and I Phantom were great discoveries for me, thanks. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the latter is available for digital purchase on Bandcamp (perhaps with better sound than on YT, and with a detailed explanation for each song) – I grabbed it before it even ended, haha.

Completely unrelated: The “White Lab Recs” label has tons of peaceful ambient music that can be really convenient to work of photos. A recent example that I enjoyed: Adrian Lane – Where Once We Danced.

Nope, still too serious. How about this Afric Simone cover/remake?

I listened to this last night while processing some IR photos from a recent trip. Can’t believe I never heard of this before. So good, and also, kinda grim if you listen to the lyrics…

I had not heard Mr. Lif, or at least not his solo work (I didnt connect him to Thievery Corp until I looked him up). I have really been enjoying that album and some Death of Scenery. Thanks!

Back to metal…

RIP Brent Hinds. I wish he and the band had more time to patch things up with whatever happened between them. He’s one of my favorite metal guitarists just because of his influences from outside of metal that he brought into the band and his playing (banjo, country, fingerstyle guitar, etc).

It made it to my speakers in the car, while listening to the eclectic music from Radio Paradise… Later it was on my computer, a miracle!

Try and beat this. I dare you
