Have you recognized, that on their webpage the bags are listed as sold out?
There is a v2 that is in stock.
Not only the padding is important. As well the width of the strap on the shoulder. I chose the PhotoCross 13, because you can carry it with ease the whole day. It sits very stable on the back and with the extra strap around your hip you really can do skiing. It’s literally nailed on your back and a good part of the weight is carried on your hip, so the shoulder is partly unburdened.
The whole bag is waterproof even without using the rain-sleeve. The look is somewhat special but I like it.
I just stuff it in my backpack with whatever else I need to carry. I do put my camera/attached lens into a form-fitting pouch my wife found for me on the internets:

For lenses I just use the drawstring pouch they came with, same for my flash.
Yep, unfortunately this is the main problem I have with the peak design sling I have. I will try to sell it and then get something better/more comfy.
I don’t even agree for the primes. For the same range, you use a 400mm on APS-C and a 600mm on a full-frame. Not the same price & weight.
As said elsewhere, I have several bags. Lately I was using a 30L backpack to carry man y lenses when I go on vacation, but the R7 and my bigger lens are smaller/lighter so I’m putting back in service my old 20L sling. And I also bring a smaller bag if I go somewhere with just the camera and a second lens.
Yes, I had the same issue and all I had in the peak 6L sling was an X-T3 and the 35mm f1.4. Hardly heavy, my shoulder would ache after being out for an hour or two.
I thought my Peak 10L sling causing shoulder pain was merely commentary on my attainment of middle age. Now that I know its a design flaw, I can convince my wife I need a new bag
I have the 6L Peak Design sling, and I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it is a good size for my setup, and I like many aspects of its design, such as the pocket layout, opening mechanism, and the fact you can tuck the strap away inside it.
But it’s designed to be slung on one shoulder. If you change shoulders, the padding is in the wrong place. It’s also designed to be used as a bum bag / fanny pack, but it doesn’t really work in that config.
Yeah, I should probably have stipulated standard primes. There are some fairly compact FF primes in the 24 to 50mm range I think.
Will do, probably incessantly and at length, but don’t expect this for another 2 months or so.
I’m relatively new here and trying to post/reply often so that I can check out the other threads as well.
Don’t think I’ll bore you guys with the story of how I got started.
I’m a very amateur photographer and picked up a Canon 650D on a whim around 8/9 years ago. Added a 50mm 1.4 to it that I found 2nd hand.
They got used quite a bit over the next couple of years and then lay catching dust for around 3 or 4 years.
I pushed my self to rekindle my love for photography around 2 years ago by volunteering to cover my company’s events. These happened pretty regularly and I decided to upgrade my camera to a mirrorless for the improved autofocus.
Saw a 2nd hand A7 RIV and jumped on it. The guy threw in a Sigma 35mm 1.4 as well.
Picked up a Tamron 24-200mm F/2.4-5.6 intending to use it as a travel lens but it surprisingly got a lot of use due to its versatility and range. I even used it to capture a cricket and football tournament for my company.
For the rest of the stuff I looked towards China / Aliexpress as US/UK made stuff is very expensive where I’m at.
I went with a bag from PGYTECH (Onemo) which was surprisingly really good and even prevented me from from getting pick-pocketed in Athens haha.
Built a lighting system with Godox lights (XPRO 1 trigger, AD200PRO and one 400W strobe as well). I even bought my modifiers and a beauty dish off Aliexpress.
Hoping to add the new Viltrox 85mm 1.4 PRO if it ever delivers (its been stuck on “Shipped” for the last few weeks).
Despite all this, my social media has 0 posts as I’m not confident with post processing. That’s why I’m here haha.
Since this has now morphed into a bag thread, I now put the stuff in my earlier post into a Shimoda Action X40 V2 backpack with a Core Unit Large DSLR v3. I expect this will be the pack I use until the end when I get turned to ash. It fits all my gear and paraphernalia, food, some layers, and my laptop without a battle, and it passes the carry-on rules for normal North American airlines, and also WestJet (whose maximum sizes are smaller). It’s really comfortable, and feels much lighter when loaded that it actually is.
Ah, that wonderful, low-cost, breath-of-fresh-air airline that did everything right… until it needed to make more money and became just like everyone else
On a related note, it’s a nightmare packing (or choosing luggage to buy) when you’re travelling to Europe from Canada and taking cheap flights within Europe. The carry-on size rules for those low-cost airlines are ridiculous.
