I am a photographer in Melbourne Australia,. Started in film in 1973, joined Buckingham Studios, worked for 18 Months for Rick without pay. Worked at night, as a restaurant photographer for the Happy Medium Photo Company, to get by. Rick taught me large format, and we used Kowa 6x6 cameras and lenses. Had a moment of introspection and I wrote down the diatribe of my life. A prayer to a God whom I ignored. He moved the pieces of my life and I was born again in '76. Bible college '78-79, married Dec. '79. Fast Forward… First digital SLR 2011 Canon 600D, 2015 first full frame, a 6D and lenses after the death of my mum. Started to process Digital images (exp, contrast, crop) my last BSOD was in 2000, and I still use Linux. Corel Aftershot Pro helped, but they effectively stopped development so came to use darktable.
Steep leaning curve for me, but then came Understanding Darktable, Bruce Williams an Aussie on the Central Coast whose down to earth style of delivery helped me considerably. And with over 150 helpful YouTube videos he has transformed my editing. I am a studio photographer, fortunately. I have avoided PS and LR and I do not have a successful experience with “layers” I have seen videos where the presenter uses 200 layers! Not for me.
