2024/08/19 GIMP Shine and Glow

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if it was possible achieve a similar result using GIMP as seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgsRjUrotDo

I’ve looked around youtube but I can’t seem to find anything that mimics this feature where brush strokes can be featured and blended after they’ve been added to the image so I’d love to see if there’s a workaround or a different set of settings I can play with to achieve this effect!

Don’t know about GIMP, but you don’t need to put the current date in topic. I saw you did it with another, as well.

I like to add it to my topics to make it easier for future readers to skim past my post when looking for a similar answer as seeing the date gives people a better idea of how relevant this topic is to their needs based on when it was talked about :slightly_smiling_face:

The GIMP has Layers and a Hard Light blending mode. I don’t know Photoshop brush options at all, so can’t suggest equivalent GIMP brush options.

HTH

It should be possible to achieve something very similar in GIMP. For blending, try the Soft light layer mode and adjust the top layer opacity to your liking.

OT, but I agree with @Donatzsky regarding the date in the title. It’s not necessary to add the date to the title since the most recent thread activity (which is always displayed in the “Activity” column) is far more relevant than the original posting date for anyone searching the forums. Plus, the date in the thread is a colossal distraction because it goes against everything else in the forum. I for one would therefore appreciate it if you didn’t do it anymore.
