Hi all,
I’ve been building a native macOS standalone app for spektrafilm. The application is written in Swift and the math has been ported to Swift & Metal for CPU & GPU support.
The app is in a usable state but still requires manual compilation from xcode (no releases in github yet) and branding (need a name and an icon).
The code is open source and its available from Github https://github.com/stnKrisna/spektrafilm-macos
What it does today:
- Import RAW, JPEG, PNG, TIFF (RAW has white-balance, tint and exposure controls) using
Core Image CIRAWFilter - Choose film and print/paper profiles independently, or scan the negative directly
- Live GPU-accelerated preview with zoom and pan
- Export JPEG, TIFF (8/16-bit, LZW/Deflate) or PNG (8/16-bit)
- And some feature parity against the spektrafilm UI
Requirements: macOS 14+ on a Metal-capable Mac, it’s tested on MacBook Pro M5. Im pretty sure it should work on any apple silicon macs. Sorry to the Windows/Linux crowd, it’s a native macOS app.
I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback ![]()
