I was wondering if additional star catalogs can be added for Plate solving and color photometry? Specifically, I am talking about the catalogs used in ASTAP and CCDCiel. The H17 or H18 lists are what they use. Since Siril uses the four downloads, with “.dat” files and the ones I hope you can add are a large group of “.fits” files, is this possible?

No we cannot add FITS files as catalogs currently. Astrometry.net also use .FITS files in HEALPIX format, the KStars dat files we use are in HTMesh format.

To answer your question, I already have several GB of the other catalogs.
I use them with ASTAP and CCDCiel.
Adding more, to use with Siril, just takes up more disk space.
I doubt there would be an easy way, to convert the “.fits” catalog files, to work with Siril. It is a shame that all the star catalogs formats could be standardized.
