Adding +0.66EV to photoS

DT 3.8.0.

I have 24 images that I need to print in magcloud. No colour profile, only sRGB, 300dpi. The images looks good on the screen, not so on the print. It needs some modifications…

I did a test run. 18 of the 24 images need an extra 0.66EV and the other 6 need some slight modifications like opening more of the shadows.

  1. Is there a way of after selecting the 24 images to create 24 duplicates?
  2. Is there a way after selecting the 18 duplicates to add +0.66 ev to the existing exposure?

Or do I have to into each one: create the duplicate and add the 0.66 ev manually?

Why do I ask? because right now it’s 24 images, it’s not too bad, but I’d like to make another booklet with about 96 images.

Thanks

It would be better to get a soft proof profile from your printer, such that you can use the soft proof feature and what you see on screen is what you get in print. Sounds like something is off for you.

The problem is that magcloud does not provide any printer/paper profile.

You can select multiple images, then click duplicate.

This will create duplicates, and keep the original images selected:

Add a new tag to the selected images:

Open the 1st image. Go to exposure, open the multiple instances menu, click new instance. In the new instance, add the required correction (the screenshot below shows both the menu and the new instance already set):

In the lighttable, filter for your tag:

Copy the extra instance of exposure using selective copy:

Paste it using selective paste on all the remaining images:

If you did everything correctly, the other images will also have the new exposure instance:

This is also visible on the lighttable:

For comparison, without the extra exposure (repeated from the beginning of the post):

What about creating a style and using the export style in append history mode? This way you avoid creating the duplicates.

Indeed. If you are sure the correction is really just a fixed step, creating a style with an instance of exposure works perfectly:

I was trying to answer the original question, instead of thinking about the problem and coming up with a solution – which is what you did. Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to help and I learned something new today :grinning: thanks

I have tried the exposure copy and it doesn’t work for me. It copies the exact fixed ‘new exposure compensation’ (or I’m doing it wrong).

The problem is that most of the images already have a different exposure compensation. Is there a way of making relative to add +0.67ev to the already existing exposure compensation?

Thanks

That’s what the 2nd exposure insurance is for

Perfecto :star_struck:

I didn’t realize/understand. Excellent, now I can also apply it to the shadows & highlights too…

Thanks

If you are having to make so many adjustments, i suggest you give them a call to see if they are expecting a specific output color profile.
