Adding images to a folder - workflow

Hi.

I am kind of new to darktable, I mean, it’s about a month and I am giving it a serious try. So far it’s really nice.
Although without this forum I could not even have started!

This is just to share the solution I found to add new images to a pre-existing folder, which already contains images imported in darktable.

Via Finder (Mac) I simply drag and drop the images I want to add to that folder, then, in darktable, I click on “import” “folder”, and I choose the one folder I wanted to update the content of. New images are there.
Something like “synchronise” function in LightRoom.

To me it works fine. I must say it takes a while to generate all the folder’s images preview, each and every time, but it’s no big deal I guess.

I don’t know if it’s the proper way, if you guys have other suggestions, but, so far, it works for me.

Cheers.
M.

As i found out far too late, the manual is also quite helpful

I don’t see anything wrong with your approach and can’t think of a better way. I do it the same way actually.

You can use lua to do this for you: Using Lua with darktable | darktable

Yes, just importing the folder again is the right way.
