With each major release of DT I just see more and more great features being added. Initially I cared little about the Lighttable features as for me it was only a way of getting to my images for editing. But with the 3.6.0 release there have been some small but very significant improvements to its functionality. I would like to suggest an improvement for future releases if it is practical and considered worthy of the effort by the developers. When I edit an image in DT I export it as a 16 bit Tiff for further edits in GIMP because I do a lot of photo restoration and GIMP is very useful for this work. However, I really wish upon export that the tiff file was added to the library as part of the export process. Lightroom offers the option of adding or not adding to the catalog upon export. I am not asking anyone to turn DT into an Adobe clone, but even Adobe come up with some good ideas occasionally that might be worth incorporating into DT.
I believe there is already a lua script that will do this, perhaps @wpferguson can confirm/deny

There is a lua script, gimp.lua that lets you export an image and open it in GIMP. When you finish the edit, simply overwrite the file, then close GIMP. The image will be moved into the original image’s folder and grouped with the original image.
