Adding support for Fujifilm X-T50 raw files

RawTherapee is still new to me, I only started reading in and taking my first test images 1 month ago. In the process I discovered that the import of raw files from my Fujifilm X-T50 is not yet optimally supported. I am using RT 5.12 from 27.05.2025. The camconst.json file currently lacks a modeling of this camera, so default values are loaded from the RawLib when reading in the raw data. If I start RT from the console with verbose=true, “no constants in camconst.json exists for Fujifilm X-T50 (relying only on libraw defaults)” is logged.

RT is open and you can add the modeling to the camconst.json file yourself if you know how. That’s great, but it would be a considerable effort for me, which I hardly think I can handle. I don’t really want to deal with RawDigger either, if there is another way.

Has anyone from the forum created a model for a Fujifilm X-T50 and would like to make it available to me?
Or would someone like to help me evaluate the necessary photos and create the model?
Any other advice?

Have you noticed any problems with the photos in RawTherapee? Fujifilm raws are usually fine even without a camconst.json entry. If you do want to improve support, read this: Adding Support for New Raw Formats - RawPedia

Thanks for the information. No, there were no problems, but I probably still lack the experience to see the finer details. I’m just starting out and thought I’d configure RT optimally so that I don’t realise after 1000 pictures that it could be even better.
From your point of view, is it worth the effort to determine the white levels with Fuji or is the gain too small?
I’d like to create the images for set1 and set2 if it is useful to me and later to other Fuji X-T50 users. What do you think?

The improvement depends on how much the true white level deviates from the current white level used by RawTherapee. Usually, it is quite small and you will only notice a difference in clipped and nearly clipped highlights if you look hard enough.

Many thanks for your assessment. I will therefore continue without shooting these white frame photos. Nevertheless, I have learnt something new.
