Hi, edited with Ansel. No AgX.

Cheers.

I only changed controls in AGX, no exposure, no calibration, no nothing. Doing the exposure inside AGX was challenging but not as bad as I thought. it actually helped me understand what the various controls mean a bit more. It might be a little dark, but

I like that some of the recent ones (Alyx, Todd, tankist02, Terrence) have good subject separation on my mobile screen, with the dark jacket not mixing with the dark trees. The original jpeg was good, too. I found the key to getting good snow detail was to not use the face as the contrast pivot. That’s a lesson to me, since the face didn’t need the extra contrast, but the snow did.

My version has no optional modules. I even turned off white balance and messed with the Agx primaries until I stumbled upon something that wasn’t green. The sidecar is in the .jpg (and can be imported) if anyone is morbidly curious.

After I abused the primaries I should have lightened the result again:

Wow, indeed this is what can be really called an AgX-only edit!

My attempt using ONLY AgX, immediately after Display Encoding with none of the prior steps touched.

Another attempt at editing.
Basic development with DT 5.5 and AgX, artistic editing with contrasts, tone equalizer and dodge and burn on the forest to give it some depth and volume

Indeed you can get quite a wider range…that edit is very close to the agx only one I landed on but I went for a bit less contrast to keep some snow detail…you can hit a wide range of brightness, contrast and saturations options depending on where you want to take the image…sometime a little flatter can be good if you want to work more on the photo or maybe contrasted out of the gate is the look…there are enough controls for tone and color in AGX to create a wide array of starting points…

Only RGB Curve and AgX

Not even white balance

Ha Ha I had to see what that looked like…

So no WB no exposure …AgX and CC in channel mixer mode to make the snow white…

Used only one extra module contrast equalizer than the default modules.

I went for a neutral look, but trying to have the subject stand out. Apart from AgX, I did touch the exposure module though.

In G’MIC, used Color Balance, Local Variance Normalization, and then selectively brightened the snow (like white snow, not dark snow and definitely not yellow snow. lol).

edit; decided to adjust the reds in the trees a bit since, well, my original edit had the bark way to red for me (wasn’t paying attention on my original edit).
