I’ve been working on setting up AI-based denoising in ART on Linux and it turned out to be a lot more involved than I expected. The official documentation covers the basics, but several non-obvious problems only reveal themselves when you actually try to set it up. I worked through them all and wrote up everything I found.
The guide covers the full setup from scratch: getting the right version of ART, configuring the integration with nind-denoise, working around Wayland compatibility issues, and fixing a progress dialog that silently cancels the denoising before it finishes. There’s also an interactive configuration generator on the page that produces personalised setup files for your system — it takes a lot of the technical work out of the process.
Important: these instructions require ART version 1.26.4 or later. Earlier versions won’t work correctly with this setup.
The guide has been tested on Ubuntu and Manjaro. I’d love to hear from anyone who tries it on other distros — Fedora, openSUSE, or anything else — so I can expand the distro coverage and fix anything that doesn’t work as expected.
