Here’s a very similar composition from two very different cameras.
I was curious about the difference in the two images and unfortunately I couldn’t match the weather conditions or the exact lens set up, or the iso, or the exposure time, or…well, anything other than the framing of the scene. But have a shot at either of them, or both, and let me know if you’re able to pull a similar finished look from them.
(Right, I almost forgot…I haven’t posted my edits of these images, I just wanted to show how the raw images appeared. I’ve done one in b&w and the other cropped and in colour)
Loved the most recent one - herewith with White Balance as shot, close to your jpg, I believe. I find it more pleasing with the “Daylight” preset, however.
The older one has the benefit of less distraction at the end of the rail bridge because of the low cloud. High-contrast B&W seems a good presentation for this one.
Yes, I was curious to se if a similar finished product between the two would be possible with what could be two differing sets of image information.
Black and white looks good.
Interesting tones from this camera/lens… I’ve reduced some of the noise in the highlights. I’ve rescued the high fog and adjusted the brightness to retain the gloomy atmosphere of a sunless day with grey, grey, grey fog.
I won’t post my attempts here, but I tried in vain to get two similar images in terms of color. I guess the two captures were just too different to have any chance.
I really didn’t think that it would be possible given the circumstances…
a bridge camera with a fixed zoom lens versus a MILC, lower versus higher mp count, and completely different white balance and exposure conditions.
I was just interested in seeing if the potential to push the perceived lower quality as far as the higher one was there.
