AMD Radeon Open CL support in DT?

I have upgraded my graphic card to a Radeon RX 6600 AMD card, 8GB. The CPU is a Ryzen 7 5700XX with a Chipset B550M DS3H (Gigabyte) and 32 GB of DDR4 RAM.
I have read, that one may have to edit settings in the darktablerc file to fully harvest the opencl support.

  1. Is this true?
  2. If so, which settings will I have to change?
On my earlier system Export, diffusion&sharpness and some other modules took really long, so opencl support might really be beneficial. I will be happy to read your comments!
    Cheers

Well, I remember that subject under discussion here. Perhaps a forum search would help?

And in general, if you have more technical or system-related questions, providing at least the OS (and distribtion/version where applicable) tends to help getting answers.

Well, for the last 1,5 year I’ve been using RX 7800 XT, now RX 9070 XT and OpenCL works out of the box and is fast. (Under Windows 11)

Ah, thank you. That sounds quite hopeful.

Uups, my system ist Ubuntu latest LTS version 24.04.

Works fine with my 6700XT, no darktablerc tweaking here

I’ve had good luck using AMD ROCm for darktable on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with a Radeon RX 5700 XT and my current card, an RX 7800 XT. No tweaks necessary, just follow the directions for amdgpu-install.
