A recent discussion on noise reduction inspired me to re-edit some old photos taken at high ISO for my lovely Nikon D200, and I admit that I am quite satisfied with the results.
Because of the huge dynamic range I created four exposures from Filmulator, -1 t0 +2 EV.
Ran Iain Ferguson’s MS NL-Means C Noise2 on each of the frames, then blended with Enfuse.
GIMP only used to scale the end result.

ART 1.18 with the default settings, except for using the Tone Equalizer to raise the shadows and lower the highlights a little.

My attempt.
Noise reduction between noise (profiled) and contrast equalizer.
Brought down the highlights with tone equalizer.
Cheers!
