I tried to capture the faint golden evening light on the neighbouring building and tried to make some interesting architecture geometry picture out of it.
I already posted the picture in the capture challenge thread and there it was suggested to retouch the branches in the corner away. It worked quite well with darktable’s healing tool on the parts with only wall behind but it got too messy for me around the sill, so I eventually gave up. I’m curious to see what you make out of it :).
Hm, I noticed that the border generated by darktable has a different width on the different sides. On the left the outer line is 6px and the inner 5px. On the right it is 8px/4px…
IMO the branches aren’t much of an issue, and perhaps less so if you widen the crop. I quite like the drain pipes on the edge of the image so I’ve widened it the other way as well…
Loved your crop and straightening effort so I just tidied up the branch on the jpeg, I suppose you only licensed the RAW, not the jpeg, but oh well.
It could be done with the retouch panel in darktable using the clone mode, but with my old Photoshop experience I’m much more comfortable attacking these things with layers in GIMP. I cleaned up the broad sections using the surrounding wall, then grabbed the upper window sill to cover up the branches there. You could work your way along with the clone tool for a better perspective, but I think this easily passes if you’re not comparing before and after at 100%
Getting the two blocks free of the tree branches wasn’t all that hard, but eliminating them as they cross the sill was seriously difficult. I am sure that others can do a better job.
