Hi,
I would like to use G’MIC’s denoising or smoothing tools on GIMP to improve the graininess of images scanned from film. However, there are so many denoising and smoothing tools in G’MIC that it is difficult to choose one. Is there any information somewhere summarizing the features of these tools? Or do you have any recommended tools of G’MIC to remove film grain?
My favorite: Repair ⇒ Denoise
*Reasonably Fast
*Not a lot of bothersome controls
*Machine Learning based - very good at holding edges.
I’m sure others will chime in on this.

Hello @yasuo , the best answer I can give is to try the filters yourself. That takes a lot of time. But then you know what works best for your purposes.
Also see G’MIC>Testing>Iain Fergusson. There are also denoise filters among them.
One filter also works much faster than the other. That can also play a role in usability.
