A while back I wrote a short article about my use of darktable and submitted it to 35mmc.
I’d almost forgotten about it by the time it was published… and then I was a bit nervous as to how it would go down, but so far it seems to have had a good reception.
Great! The part I could read is almost coming from the same thoughts as my article in a way…
It’s a slight pity they’ve put it behind a membership wall - but hey I’m not a Fuji shooter… maybe if I was I’d be there anyway.
The editors asked for it, because, reportedly, no one is willing to share their precise workflow and secrets, so my text seemed, hmm… “precious” to them and was put in “Premium” category.
I’ve written two guest articles for Fuji X Passion, the other is all free to read and contains a mixture of photos processed with darktable as well as in-camera JPGs.
The site is currently not working, but I’m curious to read it if you can share it here. I’m switching to FOSS for my photo workflow and I really need to compare workflows to see what fits my needs best.
Yes, I just got an email from 35mmc this morning. They’ve been hacked and I think it’s shut down for safety while they sort it out. First time it’s happened in the time I’ve been involved ( a year and a half or so).
This is a sad state of affairs in my opinion, independent of the raw developer. I get it creating entire paid courses, but a small article with some education around a single piece of software is not worth hiding behind a paywall.
