Aussie Autumn Poplar Glow

This is one of the most saturated raw files I’ve seen recently.

Perhaps as I haven’t been using the ‘old’ (not really) A7s Mk1 much lately.

I feel like there’s quite a lot of room for interpretation here. I did a slight vignette as I just like that effect, and fiddled with rgb primaries and color EQ in darktable 4.7.0+852~gf0c81ac018 until I got it ‘just so’ Colourful, but to me not garish. Opinions may differ.

Taken this morning.

Nice! Makes mine look a bit gloomy though… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Naaahh not really. Of course, yours is a little bit darker and less saturated. But in my eyes, everything is well-balanced. So probably if you ask me which version I like more. I would decide differently every time you’d ask. :upside_down_face:

Another variation. I find it somewhat hard to control the white spots around the trees.

I’d desaturate the blue and reduce its area as well

Excellent photo! I like the “original” colors, I just gave them a small saturation increase. A slight crop.

I rarely use Fuji X Velvia LUT. In this case the deep blue reflection of the sky looks great with it. IMHO

Maybe not the usual way, to leave out the colours on such a colourful picture. Anyway, here is a B/W edit:

I rarely care for B&W, but that one looks great.

Thank you for the play. The original RAW is already fine without processing, but I couldn’t resist the fun. With ART, GIMP and G’MIC:

Thanks for the image, Steven.

My play is with RT 5.10-512-g6b35d3746, using mostly Local Adjustments. I liked the original colours so didn’t stray too far from the version you posted; but, I did try to bring out the tree somewhat by slightly darkening and desaturating the forest and lake, and bumping up the tones and colours of the tree and that contrasting blue sky.

Cheers,
Terry

Had a try at it, did the same kind of color shift you did but with channel mixer but tried something else on the contrasts and sky …
Nice composition and subject, thanks for the play
