Autofocus moment with the R7...

So i got this shiny new R7, and wanted to see how it behaved with my old Sigma 120-400.

Like all modern mirrorless, it has a very powerful autofocus, and when it is told that the subject is a human or an animal, it tries to identify the eye and sets the focus on it.

To test this, I go to one of the ponds in the Bois de Boulogne where flocks of seagulls and Canada geese dwell, and spend some time shooting the birds.

Then I see a dog running towards me, and welcoming the change of subject, I aim the camera, half-press the shutter, and see the little blue square wander a bit before locking on one of the dog’s eyes. Then suddenly the dog turns around, and the little blue square wanders a bit, … and locks on the dog’s butthole.

And at that moment you squeezed the shutter… And??

fuji has bird detection AF which is really good at finding chimmneys and aeriels, but not so good at birds, I think they just programmed to find places where birds sit

So it can focus on brown eyes as well.
