I’m scanning some old family photos (many hundreds). Some of these have writing on the back of where and who is in the photo. I can use gimp to add borders and the text, but with maybe 2-300 it would be nice to have a more efficient way to add the text and border.
I’m thinking of something like this. (edit: for some reason I can’t upload the picture)

If you want to stick with GIMP, try BIMP. Inkscape is a possibility for batch processing using templates, though colour management may be more challenging.

Looks like this. (If I had 100’s to process, I would edit the script to set preferred sizes etc as default)
