Automate adding border and text to photos?

I’m scanning some old family photos (many hundreds). Some of these have writing on the back of where and who is in the photo. I can use gimp to add borders and the text, but with maybe 2-300 it would be nice to have a more efficient way to add the text and border.
I’m thinking of something like this. (edit: for some reason I can’t upload the picture)

I’m a nerd, I’d use Annotating -- IM v6 Examples :stuck_out_tongue:

If you want to stick with GIMP, try BIMP. Inkscape is a possibility for batch processing using templates, though colour management may be more challenging.

PS Try uploading now. It should work.

That’s perfect, thanks johnny-bit!

Using Gimp. An old script kym-border from GitHub - mkyral/LineBorder: The python script for Gimp to create an border around the image

Looks like this. (If I had 100’s to process, I would edit the script to set preferred sizes etc as default)
