Thanks for the photo to play with.
Filmulator - default settings except +1 EV. In GIMP used curves just to set the black and white points.
Thanks a lot for all your valuable input. There is still room for me to improve. I was mostly impressed how the blue in the sky could be emphasized.
As far as I remember the sky was not so gray as shown in my version when I shot the picture some months ago.
My version is not realistic…

@lbolm sorry for misusing your beautiful motive.
Okay well set as you like usually you would generally set this to rec2020…what you are concerned about is clipping during the pipeline…at the end your output profile will correctly map in gamut color to your selected output colorspace…the histogram profile gives the data for gamut warnings …essentially.
I really like this approach…I tried several edits and really never liked the what the leaves were rendering like…love the dreamy version.
The closest one I got was taking the leaves to an almost orange but even then I was not happy with it…nice enhancement of the lighting as well in the foreground…it set up some nice shadows…
you are always welcome. I like your approach.
That second one (paint with brush) I really like!
This… Really like the paint with brush. I have got to try it.
Great photo, my attempt:

I often try the Play Raw images, but I rarely share them. This one I was very satisfied with. A beautiful starting point. Done in Darktable 3.8.1.
