Bird Photographer of the Year: 2024 Winners

Caught my eye because the winner is from Toronto, where I am a resident.

While he didn’t place, a friend of mine took the cover photo of the two Hooded Mergansers. The location was at Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria, Virginia. He’s one of the best photographers in the area - and gutsiest in the way that he hangs nearly $20K of equipment of the edge of the boardwalk to get shots just above the waterline.

I may just be me, but I think the photos from BPOY tend to be far superior in image quality and content over the annual Audubon contest. But, I might be a tad biased.
