I’m looking for the option “blacks” and “whites” like lightroom has. I wasn’t able to find this option, is it available in rawtherapee?
Can’t say without seeing what those do in Lightroom.

Paul’s article on tone curves is one of the best introductions available. People past the beginner stage should read it carefully, too, for a couple of good fine points about the tone curve in general and the RT interface with curves.
Minor suggestions if Paul reads this:
– Explain that the endpoint operation with which you begin is often called setting the white point and the black point.
– If you have an opinion why you use Control Cage rather than simple Custom movement, you could make a remark.

I’ll update that article with “setting white and black points”.
I prefer the control cage over custom curve, as it is more fluent. One wrong point in the last curve type and you can ruin your photo.
Of course this is just a personal preference.
