Looked like this might be a nice overlap with photography.

oh and ICYMI:
OpenColorIO 2.5 no also comes with ACES 2.0 and Vulkan support. But blender is not using that yet. It is planned for 5.1.
Geez, that looks rather amazing even compared to AgX. Perfect timing, just when @kofa is wrapping up the AgX module. ![]()
There’s also OpenDRT, whose developer is also on this forum.
ART already has it. OpenDRT for ART
Hello,
sorry for replying late to this thread. But with the recent release of Blender 5.0 with ACES 2.0, I think it would be interesting for the community to raise some awareness about it.
I have written an article: What makes a good picture (formation) ? - Chris Brejon
which tries to describe the different components of a successful picture formation.
Don’t get me wrong, it can be interesting to have a common standard for color management in the industry. But I wish the quality of the pictures would be prioritized.
I hope this article will help you in your knowledge about color management and help you craft great pictures.
Wow.
This, imho, is a must read article.
Not only for devs, but also every photographer, cinematographer, everyone in printing as well.
Thanks a ton !
I have moved forward with a creation of my own LMT for ACES 2.0 and I have shared part of the process here:
I will release the LMT during the month on my Git. I hope it will help any ACES users to form better pictures as a starting point.
That looks awesome…
Geez, impressive results. With regards to hue shifts in the highlights it looks like it acts very much as I’d want a tone mapper to act. Would be interesting to see it go head-to-head with the darktable AgX module.
Thanks for the kind words.
I used some great tools to generate this LUT. I cannot say much them because they haven’t been released yet publicly.
About ACES 2.0, I found it a bit hard to get where I wanted to (in terms if grading), like if I was “fighting” the picture formation. I found it especially challenging in the blues.
But since ACES is pretty much everywhere, I thought that generating some kind of “generic” LUT to give a better starting point would be an interesting exercise for me to perform.
Thanks.
