Glad it’s worked out. Personally, I have my developmental and POC builds operating with their own independent databases, with test photos in segregated folders so I don’t screw up my real work.
I intend to always merge changes from master onto my branch before I notify you about a new build - but no guarantees, I make mistakes.
Hi,
Probably a silly question but I have a problem with the 565 AppImage (All prior AppImages have worked fine). Ubuntu 24.04 + GTX 1070. On opening the module group that contains Agx all modules are visible on the right and collapsed as they should be. On opening Agx all other modules disappear and 2out of 3 Agx panels are empty and the other modules names are missing. If i allow my mouse to pass down over agx the modules populate with their expected context. This happened when I was truing to adjust the height of the tone curve with alt shift scroll. In addition I no longer have a tone curve at all. What stupid (Edit : remove a typo) newby mistake have I made?
TIA
F
Have you tried to switch off OpenCL? Such things happen often, when there are problems with the graphics driver.
I don’t know.
Try editing darktablerc, and remove all lines that contain plugins/darkroom/agx
.
But it’s definitely not something you did.
I did not change controls on the UI in that last build, it really was just clean-up of internal data and formulae, and fixing that bug that I mentioned.
Rearranging the UI? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that.
Not rearranging, have I overread something? But missing parts of the UI, which appear and disappear when I change things like size of a curve etc or move the mouse over it. In this case fonts and curve.
I don’t know. But how come all other builds work?
No clue at all, but this behaviour I had very often with RustiCL, why I switched back to ROCm. Maybe @Scaglioni has updated his Nvidia driver in the meantime. Switching off OpenCL for testing is not a big thing, so I would at least try it.
Thank you for the suggestions. I tried turning OpenCL off and it made no difference. Tried with an empty and new config-dir and same problem. My stock installation of DT is 5.0.1 and that does not experience any issues. I have limited time today but next step is to remove the entire temporary AGX-DT directory and its contents. Re-download and start again.
For info I am running :
Ubuntu 24.04
Gnome 46
Kernel Linux 6.8.0-57generic
Nvidia GeForce 1070 - Driver version : 550.120
Shall reports back when I can.
Many thanks
F
There’s a new build that allows you to move the pivot.
X: you can shift it from mid-grey towards black (negative values) or white (positive values)
Y: can can shift the output from mid-grey 0.18 to any value you wish.
I think this is quite confusing now, as the curve gamma also changes the way the curve looks, but it does not change the actual mapping. Anyway, try it.
I’ve also added auto-pickers for exposure.
I’ll be offline for the rest of the weekend.

@Dave22152 , @MStraeten , please update your builds if you have time.
wohooo @kofa on fire again. Thanx for the new build!
Edit:
Thanx for the Auto-Tune-Levels function . That was soemthing I didn’t dared to ask for.
here the macOS arm64 build:

same comments as in Blender AgX in darktable (proof of concept) - #181
The pivot was easy to implement; the auto pickers were ported using an LLM, based on filmic.
Here is the Window executable:
Fast observation:
-
With autotune functions we can regulate quickly the contrasts in highlights and shadows. This is a very nice improvement.
-
With gamma and contrast functions with corresponding pivots, we can wonderfully regulate the focus of the contrasts in middle gray. They now offer additional flexibility where we can adjust the contrasts even more precisely to the respective scene.
-
With toe and sholder functions (power, start) we can further refine the contrast focus in the middle gray in the direction of highlights and shadows.
-
Thanks to the new options mentioned above, we no longer need the slope and offset functions in the look tab. I still find saturation and power useful. Maybe it makes sense to collapse the look section by default so that we only have the tone mapping section expanded.
I think the Agx module has now reached a level of maturity where it might be possible to offer it in master.
Very good work @kofa!!!
I don’t know if I feel the same way about that. The new controls are interesting and I need more time to work with them, but I think the Look section has a lot of merit as-is. It’s easy to use and you can get great results with just those sliders alone. That simplicity is a huge benefit. The offset is particularly useful to me, and I don’t see a one-to-one replacement for it (maybe the black relative slider serves that function?).
Also, I understand that the tone mapping section works in the display space, and you can get some anomalies if you clip shadows and highlights, but these don’t occur if you clip under the look section.
So my vote (assuming I have a vote ) is to keep the Look section as it is.
But yes, I agree that this module has come a long way and I look forward to the point where it’s integrated in the master!
I wouldn’t be opposed to that. I am always in favor of not limiting the functionality of the modules for fear of making them too complex.
I completely agree
Hi Boris, would it make sense to have a YT Video showing how to use Agx?
