Those of you who follow RawTherapee development closely know already. For the rest of you, I though you’d like to know that there is a new tool under development for adding a border to your images. I have seen a couple of questions over the years about adding borders in RawTherapee. There are workarounds like using the Selective Editing tool, but they are not obvious and can be tedious to use. The new tool, called Framing, is designed specifically for adding borders and will greatly simplify the process. I know many of you will appreciate this new tool.
What’s exciting to me as a RawTherapee developer is that the Framing tool is being developed by a new contributor, Daniel Gao (aka digitalcarp). It’s one thing to fix a small bug. It’s another to create an entirely new and feature-rich tool. From what I have seen so far, Daniel has done a great job at it too!
You can follow the development and provide constructive feedback in the pull request here. Like all pull requests, downloads are available for you to try as described in RawTherapee Pre-dev.
