Shot using my Fuji x100f. It was hard to stop to take the shot as people were flowing down through the narrow alley of the market. Quite happy with how it turned out in the end.
Edited using my own Film Simulation darktable style (the result admittedly doesn’t look anything like film, but I like the colors anyway).
Yeah I thought it was kinda crazy too. Convinced me to stick with Costco for chicken, but it made for a good photo in my opinion
Like the extra contrast you added and that you emphasised the main character. I like both with and without the emphasis since I think the environment here is also interesting.
Two edits … no exposure added … all done in the tonemapper…might not be the best way to always do it and at this point I’m just trying to get a feel for the adjustments…
In Germany we have the saying “Andere Länder andere Sitten” (Other countries other customs). I wouldn’t say that our (western) sanitary conditions are always good I think we often tend do overdo it. Guess where all our allergies come from.
I only just saw that ciggie after looking at the pic on my phone. An excuse to retell the tale of when a friend and I were eating in a shui jiao dumpling place in Macau. The cook was mincing pork and shrimp the old way at the back of the restaurant, with two massive cleavers banging away at a thick chopping block, his plump body shaking with the effort - along with the ever extending ash on the cigarette in his mouth. We joked about it, carried on eating and few minutes later turned around to see the ash was gone. We were like, “Did you hear him stop chopping to flick the ash?… Hmmm… Not really.”
