according to gphoto2 tethering is fully supported but darktable can not connect tethering
Error: no camere with tethering available for use…
But with the following gphoto2 tests everything seems OK:
env LANG=C gphoto2 --port usb: --abilities
Abilities for camera : USB PTP Class Camera
Serial port support : no
USB support : yes
Capture choices :
: Image
: Preview
Configuration support : yes
Delete selected files on camera : yes
Delete all files on camera : no
File preview (thumbnail) support : yes
File upload support : yes
my R6mII connects fine on macos - so no general issue
Did you connect the camera in darktable (and just forgot to mention that in your steps to reproduce)?
from the manual (darktable user manual - overview): After the USB cable is connected, go to the import module in the lighttable view. If your camera is available for use, a new section should appear in the import module containing the name of your camera and a “mount camera” button. Click this button to connect your camera and three additional buttons will appear: “copy & import from camera”, “tethered shoot” and “unmount camera”. Click “tethered shoot” to enter the tethering view. When you are finished, press the “unmount camera” button before physically disconnecting it.
Thank you for the response. After connecting the camera to computer, in the import module " mount camera " button doesn’t appear like before. (see screen shot )
But it is connected to the PC and I can see it via terminal as mentioned in my previous query gphoto2.
at least with my recent macports based builds i’m able to connect and tether EOS R6mII from my m1max macbook - so no darktable issue
macports uses libgphoto2 2.5.31_0, so maybe check the version of your used libgphoto2
