Can you recommend a simple video editor please?

Very simple requirement! (?) - I want to select clips from a video and output each as a separate video file. I don’t want to attempt any image adjustments.

The video is a .MOV from my EOS 6D. VLC info includes this -
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Color primaries: ITU-R BT.709
Color transfer function: ITU-R BT.709
Color space: ITU-R BT.601 Range

I’ll be recording low res at 640x480.
Looking for something easy to install (no compiling) on Ubuntu 18.04.
Straightforward to operate.
A basic fade-in & fade-out would be nice.
Thanks

I use KDEnlive, which is quite good, although it may not be too intuituve at first, but it support GPU acceleration.

Shotcut may be a bit easier to use, but I haven’t used it myself.

Davinci Resolve is a professional level program, although the free version may limit you to HD only, I think.

All three should be installable via your distro’s package manager.

Avidemux is a quick editor, very useful for trimming and transcoding.

Openshot is a worth a look at. Not as feature filled as Kdenlive, but a bit easier, IMO.

I can second avidemux, very simple, but perfect if you just want to cut and paste bits of clips.

For everything DaVinci is good and easy to use. For just cutting Avidemux is very good (can also transcode, resize, subtitles and quite a bit more)

Thanks for these folks. Looks like Avidemux!
