So, at the moment the R7 is 999€… I own a RP and am a fan of full-frame but fancy the R7 some time now (but really, i’m not sure if i really need it - except for some more zoom with my 100-400mm)
Please give me some arguments to not buy it now ![]()

Sorry we don’t do that here. Maximum GAS! You need it.
I still have this one fear: I’ll like the R7 so much more than the RP that I’ll also need a better full-frame ![]()
I own an R7 and I give it the thumbs up. The advantage of a crop sensor is getting more from your telephoto lenses. The advantage of a full frame is getting more from your wide angle lenses. If you already have a full frame get the R7 to compliment the full frame. I would wait to see what the R7 Mk11 offers. The original will probably get cheaper or maybe the upgrade to Mk11 is worth it.
There are some rumors of course on the spec. I read 40p/s with electronic shutter and >40Mpx… (but tbh, I think these are all speculations) Idk if it is worth for me waiting, especially as I would had to wait another 1 or 2 years until the mkii is cheap enough ![]()
I would guess that even with the mkii out there, the R7 will not get that much cheaper as it is at the moment. Perhaps they go as low as 900, or I find a used one.
Well, I guess I have to leave work earlier today…
If you buy the R6 M2 right now, you get a full frame camera, but you can mount a EF-S or RF-S lens. It will then be like a R7.
but, for the price of one R6 mkii I currently get two R7 ![]()
It is only money, YOLO. ![]()
If you are a fan of FF, then buy the camera that brings you joy. Then buy the lens that brings you joy (RF 70-200 2.8?).
haha, you are the first one who actually tried to talk me the R7 out ![]()
I mean, it is true - I could also spend the 999€ on a new lens with more than 400mm. One option (only looking at Canon atm) would be the 200-800 - at the price of 2.4×R7 ![]()
Not really. You can get the R6 and the R7.
Joy from GAS fulfillment is the most fleeting kind.
Also, if you have a capable camera body, the next few ones in the same lineup usually just give tiny, incremental upgrades. Spending on a photo trip or lenses is usually worth it much more.
my wife would kill me… ![]()

Put that on an R7 body and your set with the equivalent of about 320 -1280 mm. The R7 body loves telephoto lens for wildlife, birds and paparazzi type shots.
Then the price rises to 3.4×R7 ![]()
Its only money. You can’t put a price on happiness. ![]()
But if you never stop giving in to the urges of the syndrome, is it still fleeting? Or is it just a constant wave you can ride until your bank account is empty? ![]()
(Small print: I do not promote rampant consumerism and risky spending. Do so at your own risk.)
Spoil sport. No price can be put on happiness. ![]()
I would not be able to tell those two apart empirically, since my bank account would only support a short ride ![]()
IMHO the big feature of the R7 is the IBIS.
1/8s… Because my aperture was set at f/25 for some reason. Yes, the picture isn’t that good otherwise, but the sun was below the horizon.
