The tonality in the front top of the wings is really wonderful @Thomas_Do
Yes, that’s what I like, too. The wings together with the beak. By the way, it ist a color image.
This is a reprocess (in ART*) of an old shot from 2009. It was taken with my 8 mp Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D) when starting home from vacation in far west Texas. Scenes like this make me want to never go home…
I knew even less about processing then than I do now (is that even possible?) and I was heavily reliant on plug-ins, presets and buttons. It was pretty abused by Topaz Adjust, as you can see in the original version:
Out of curiosity I wondered if I could bring it back toward reality but still manage to preserve some of the magical / dreamy quality of the scene.
* with the exception of some fence removal in Affinity Photo
No, definitely no studio shot. That’s what the raw image looks when opened in darktable.
I just decided for a high key edit.
Here another shot from the “skydiving sequence”:
I should have used the correct vernacular when I posted. As @paperdigits said the tonality is what I really liked. At first glance (as I scrolled down) my brain interpreted the sheen of the feathers as metalic. Like in still life/product photography of non-chromed objects when using diffuse & hard light.
Once I stopped and looked, it was obvious that it was a real bird. That momentary “trick” was very cool though!
Oh no, you’re making me hungry
Looks like the first attempt went well!
So I went to the Loch of the Lowes, to try and get some pictures of the ospreys. Apparently they were hunting elsewhere, so I had to make do with these:
