Could also be Mordor on a good day

Monochrome without even trying. Nice!

This is really cool. I grew up in an old town with an old railroad that still operates today. The number of people in the country who know how to service and operate these machines must be so small these days.

Mordor after the Rain?

Wasn’t that a famous painting?

Indeed. In the US, a lot of the talent pool is aging out, but there are young folk showing interest. A full career doing tourist railroad work can involve numerous relocations.

Doing restoration work is a bit different, there are professionals out there but the majority is done by volunteers like me, a software careerist with home woodworking experience. That group is aging-out also.

Thank you. I’ve tried the last weeks to get this image, but finally luck and weather have been on my side.

I haven’t posted here in a while, so a fresh one from yesterday.

It has been over a month since I’ve added anything here … a trip to Melbourne a few weeks ago gave some inspiration; I’m still culling and processing (and will be for a while)

Plenty more zoo (and aquarium) captures to cull: a future post awaits.

A hardly ever shoot macro and have no macro lens. These were taken with a 70-300, some with a cheap +2D close-up lens.
