I like all three of the images, but I think that IR frame with the geese is great.
Yes, I really like that one too, although I really want to just give it a little crop from the bottom to improve the symmetry. But it’s a lovely picture!
The geese are portfolio worth IMHO. The other two are really, nice subtle compositions. Great work.
Oh, hey, a pigeon, basking in the early morning light in the tree in front of my house. Unlike the one at @andabata 's, this one doesn’t enter and sit on my keyboard. ![]()
I particularly liked the warmth of the light, here.
I got to indulge my love of grassroots (kinda literally
) motorsports yesterday for the first time in a while ![]()

This was the Allen Trial hosted by the Bristol Motor Club.
Some very cool cars…
Wow, great shots and looks like a great, fun event.
As someone who used to compete at the amateur level (in the US), I wish someone had grabbed shots like these at our trials! Well done!
I’ve been wanting to get a shot of these pygmy blue butterflies for several weeks now and just haven’t been able to. They are very small compared to other butterflies (this one was about 1-1.5cm), and also quite shy. But yesterday this one seemed to not mind me too much and would hang out on these blue mistflowers without being bothered by me too much.
The first shot would have been great if not for that blade of grass cutting through the scene, though at least it serves as a leading line of sorts. The second shot was trying to create a bit of a voyeuristic shot of the butterfly hiding behind those unbloomed buds. If I could tell a butterfly how to pose and reorient the buds without scaring the butterfly, I would have, but alas… Really happy with this shot regardless.
Very nice! What lens did you use to capture this wonderful butterfly?
Laowa 65mm macro
A little grebe running on the water
Unfortunately, this part of the lake was in the shade, hence the brown colour.
I keep seeing nice things coming through Laowa glass. With crop factor, it’s about 105mm equiv; how close did you need to get for this shot?
I have a nice picture of a crested grebe paddling like fury at the Loch of the Lowes.
The ranger I was with remarked laconically, “There’s probably a pike just below the surface”.
Close enough for my flash diffuser to cast a shadow, not sure exactly. The product page says the minimum focus distance is 17cm but I believe that’s at 2x magnification. I was probably closer to 0.5x but still had to get quite close. That 17cm I believe is the distance from the sensor, so the distance from the glass is considerably closer.
Must be historic rally season. This vid just popped up on an event in Wales:
I’m amazed at how much details was possible to recover from the raw
The OOC jpeg from the smartphone
Went out for some food with the guys from work (this place, the food was pretty honking great!), and of course I couldn’t not do a little photowalk of Groningen. Had the 9mm on the entire time.
Lumix’s “Real Time LUT” in-camera JPEG presets. Tried a whole load of presets and this was probably the most interesting outcome. Brightened image out of camera.
Just spotted the pigeon in the tree
I like the greens in that
