Hey, thanks. I was struggling to find any kind of composition because it was pitch black and I’d just pulled off the highway where a small clearing was when I noticed the lights starting to really kick off. I figured if I pointed towards the surrounding mountains I might get something.

I have to applaud the rainproof cake Tupperware. After taking the merry-go-round picture above, I went to the baker’s and had to run home to avoid a soaked baguette.

I was wondering how you fared down there. I heard Kill Devil hills was supposed to get a foot of snow and 60mph winds.

We live in KDH. Definitely gusts over 50MPH, but my guess is only about 5" of snow. It’s hard to tell exactly how much because some places are bare and some have nearly 4’ of drifted snow.

I also like using the most random objects with uniform/interesting color as backgrounds. Last time I used my black t-shirt for something with noise calibration of my camera lol

I used a dark bathrobe for the same purpose. Terrycloth is very good at hiding reflections or even shadows.

We went into Perth yesterday for a concert by the Leonore Trio. I took the camera, even though it was raining. I got some very grey pictures…

I know that problem, they are almost always flying in the wrong direction. But this image is one of my best heron-in-flight images.
