Amazing colors
Yep, I see 5000 in the slider to the right, but in the URL you’re 5019. So, were 19 posts deleted?
A counter slop!
(pun intended
)
Good question. Maybe?
Thanks! I was thinking for a little while that it would be a bust, but it got much better, obviously. There was a fellow there taking cellphone shots who lived in the valley below. He commented on the trees growing up all around (no maintenance in quite a while, apparently) and he joked about maybe accidentally bringing a chainsaw and accidentally cutting off a few limbs… ![]()
More from the museum, this time with @jssfr’s Classic Chrome.
Continuing the reflections theme. Again, I like the tiny bubbles that almost look like stars. I leaned into that with the edit.
This was the final day of shooting 6 months (almost) exclusively in 720nm IR. Shooting IR through fall and winter has been challenging. Without a lot of high reflectance materials, your choices in compositions and editing are pretty cramped. On the flip side, the limited ‘color’ palette does simplify your life, and can be interesting on its own. In fact, it is that strange color palette that (I think) lends itself so well to the idea that photographs do not need to be mere records of a place & time. When done well (not me lol), I think it could be a powerful tool.
Although I still love IR, I am sooooo happy to get back to normal color images!
in the middle of the city, nothing interesting to shoot, cloudy day, boring light … so start fooling around and try some ICM ![]()
My wife decided she would like to go to the island of Colonsay. She makes all the requisite bookings and we set off. The rain is so heavy, the windscreen wipers have difficulty keeping up. On the way, we get a text to say that the ferry has been cancelled due to bad weather. We manage to cancel the hotel booking on Colonsay, get a refund on the ferry crossings and the hotel on the way back.
Somewhat of a disaster, I manage to get three pictures:
The first is of Loch Melfort in the evening, during a break in the rain. The second is the following morning, during a break in the rain. The last is of Ben Lawers from Glen Dochart, on our way home, two days earlier than expected.
Another spring walk.
I never get tired of sunshine and flowers!
Sony Nex-5R with 16-50mm PZ kit lens.
darktable 5.3
P.S. Anyone know what the mauve flowers are? Missing the plant books that I used to have easy access to in my dad’s collection.
Cardamine pratensis, one of the Brassicaeae (cabbages, mustard, and such)
After my last outing with the camera club I remembered to start taking handheld photos of the things I “see along the way” while out for a short hike after work this week.
do you remember how to use this?
I remember it was a powerful tool, but I am afraid, today i had to reread the instruction ![]()
edit: reduced size
I’ve enjoyed seeing your IR photos because they are so different from mine and probably in large part because of the environment. Where I live, the difference between a winter day and a summer day is minimal in terms of sunlight and environment.
I was in Warrington, UK, lately. I hope the people there like it better then I did. Anyway, it makes a good backdrop for some gritty industrial scenes.
