That squirrel is definitely judging you…

It may have practical significance - consider parking behind the sign, as the white vehicle has done. Were the sign truly vertical, this would use much more road space and restrict parking; as it is, perpendicular to the road, it is optimal. Just sayin’

There’s a small plant growing in my neighborhood park that no one else seems to notice as they walk past. It’s known as perfoliate bellort, and it produces tiny delicate flowers for a very short period in early spring. I make a point of taking photos of it each year, so here it is for 2026:

In case anyone is curious, this it what it looks like along the creek:

That’s stunning… thanks for sharing. I’ll look out for similar in my local area… maybe, just maybe we’ll have something similar!

I wonder, what lens and exposure parameters was that shot with? It looks pretty clean and sharp

Thank you. This was taken with my Canon R7 and Laowa 60mm f/2.8 macro, handheld at 1/200", f/4 and ISO 400. Its a totally manual lens and quickly becoming my favorite!

Hi all,
long time no post but still messing around with my trusty Olympus kit and darktable, no need for anything else.
Been visiting some friends in cold and windy swamp county this week but will be moving on to Istanbul in 10 days; hopefully it’ll be a bit warmer down there.

Bought a little “waistlevel” viewfinder for the Ricoh GRIII (Ulanzi VF01 on Aliexpress for £27) and tried it out to get a low angle with some birdlife, and at waistlevel with a guy out in his trews. Slightly hit and miss as relying on the Ricoh autofocus to work because you obviously can’t see that in the viewfinder, (while also trying to avoid getting beaked in the eye or ankles by the swan). Not exactly sure it’s worth it unless you’re going out with something specific in mind as you could just shoot blindly with the Ricoh and probably get a reasonable hit rate. However, it did make me think of trying different angles that I might not have otherwise.

Nice captures. Waist level shooting is one of my favourite ways to do it, both possible in the x-t3 and x100v. That Ulanzi adapter seems pretty cool. I had no idea this product even existed for the GR, really cool.

Yeah, it’s quality for the price. Solidly made, comes with detachable magnetic sun guard (that you kind of have to flick open or it tends to stick to itself if you do it slowly but easy enough), obviously it’s a small image and reversed, with a little vignetting but fine for composing. Has a couple of additional framelines for other focal lengths. I realise it’s also on Amazon now.

Hirtshals Lighthouse

With a light height of 57 metres, Hirtshals Lighthouse is one of Denmark’s tallest lighthouses and is situated in Hirtshals in northern Jutland. Planning for the lighthouse began in February 1859, and the foundation stone was laid on 28 June 1860. On 1 January 1863, after a construction period of just over two and a half years, Hirtshals Fyr came into operation.

Photographed in June 2024, developed from Raw using darktable 5.4.1 (with filmic tonemapper) in 2026

I fell off the first storey of a house we’re building a couple of weeks ago… Now I’m feeling a bit better after getting banged up by gravity. Went out for my first light hike yesterday to some familiar spots to get some photos. These have been edited in Snapseed only so far, but I’ll have a try at a few of them in darktable soon enough.

!!!

Sorry to hear this… Injuries?

Minimal, thankfully. Think I sprained or otherwise damaged some connective tissue in my lower right ribcage… But I’m feeling better every week. :+1:
