And the Trans-Siberian railway (OK, it’s not a train, but the Orient Express isn’t a particular train, either, or is it?). It’s the longest railway line in the world (over 9000 km/5700 miles).
TGV (again, not a single train but a network of trains) is also quite famous (and set the world record for a wheeled train, close to 600 km/h, or over 350 mi/h).
As a Portuguese it was kind of a shock when I visited Belgium and saw this “sea” of parked bicycles when leaving the train station in Ghent. Had never seen anything like it
In the UK, you can see seas of bikes in some of the older universities. This was taken on Broad Street (“The Broad”) in Oxford, just outside of Balliol.
First Highland Games of the season. This was at Blair castle, and was accompanied by the Atholl Gathering.
I was slightly disappointed, I was hoping to see dogs run into the arena to chase the shot, the 28lb weight and the 16lb hammer, and also to attempt to fetch the large stick that was being tossed.
Fact, dogs don’t mind the playing of the pipes, but they aren’t keen on the cannon being fired.
I should add, that if you look at the EXIF data for these images, you can see that they were taken this afternoon.
One thing that did impress me when processing them is how easy it is to make an adequate image with DT, and how few modules are needed. Obviously, one would have to put more effort in if one was striving for something rather more than adequate.
In Hungarian, those old American cars have two nicknames: “battleship” (because of the size and the flat shape) and “petrol guzzler”, for obvious reasons.
