Why is the guy in the back row asleep?
More to the point, how is he able to sleep surrounded by so much brass?

particularly like the one on the string
He is not asleep, he is probably contemplating
… or he just had a silent sneeze …
Pining for the chords…
It was a pun…
I took my latest purchase, a Tamron 70-200 to the Linn of Tummel on bright afternoon. Reviews said that the Tamron is slightly softer than the equivalent Sigma, but I am happy enough
I hiked the West Highland Way in Scotland a few days ago and did not see a single highland cow - but a deer that let me look over their shoulder.
Some more pictures from the Tamron 70-200 mm lens, this time at Perth races. I need to work on my panning technique…
Impressive ! even @ 225mm (35mm equiv) you must have been quite close !
Nice edit, I like colors and dynamic. Congrats !
Thank you
The deer was obviously used to people, maybe even tame, as it walked quite relaxed next to a popular camping lot and did not seem overly concerned by people nearby.
Having the Tamron on an APS-C-camera helped, too - but to be honest, I was so close, I was a little worried about my safe distance
Round here, my wife and neighbours get pissed off with the deer coming into the gardens and eating carefully tended plants…
I once went on a “deer walk” with a ranger at Dunham Massey, near Manchester. He reckoned people got it wrong when he thought of them as Bambi look-alikes. They cull the herd on a yearly basis, he told us that most of those they cull have injuries of some kind, missing eyes, burst kidneys etc., all caused by dominance behaviour. Once, when they anaesthetised the alpha-male for a health check, the junior males saw it staggering and immediately rushed over to give it a good antlering.
Our deer here are traditionally pissed off the gardens. They don’t like the smell of human, especially male urine. So you get some crates of beer, a grill and some guys and assign target areas. Anecdotally it is working, had no complaints about deer damage after I did my part of the task.
Ice cream corn ?
Corn on a rope ?
Microcorn ?
Maybe.
But really it’s an ear of dried corn, one of many I screw to this cable which dangles just above the grass for the squirrels and rabbits to feed on. I just thought it’s interesting how they always eat it from the bottom up.
Almost. You’ll notice they missed (at least) one small kernel near the tip.
Sloppy little critters.

I was out with the camera last week, and a squirel stole my sandwhich while I was changing the lens.
…better than it stealing your lens while you have your sandwich
Happened to me, a weasel stole my chicken leg while I looked down the path for a friend’s arrival.
Cautionary tale: On the same day, a young girl picked up a mole that she saw in the grass. It bit her down to the bone.
This evoked a mental image of a squirrel looking at you askew while holding your sandwich, wearing a leather jacket, with greasy slicked-back hair and a cigarette danging from its mouth.
