Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8 Red T | Pre War 12 Blade Design | Incredible Value Vintage Lens

In this video I review the Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8, the Red T Coated, Pre War, 12 Blade Design.

It’s a fantastic lens, probably one of the best Tessars out there and certainly my favourite.

The video was filmed entirely with the Sony a7R II and the Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 SSC, soon to be reviewed here.
The montage was done in DaVinci Resolve on Arch Linux.
The images in the video were processed with RawTherapee and GIMP on Arch Linux.
The video thumbnail was done with GIMP on Arch Linux.

I somehow managed to miss this post until now. Nice review!

I’ve been after a good Tessar for a while, and it looks like this is the version for me (if I can get hold of one). I quite fancy one of those beers as well!

It definitely is the nicest Tessar I’ve yet to use.

@martbetz Mart, where are your hunting grounds?

M42, or what? There are quite a lot of interesting lenses
still to be found in the so called Former Eastern Europe countries…
Need some web links?

Have fun!
