Chlorophyllic spacecrafts

Hey guys, some colourful little theatre =)
Gimp (photoflow) developed with GMIC’s amazing filters, final touch was Fuji Provia 100’s slide emu.
Macro achieved stacking projector lens (german made scor-somethin) found in the garbage, can you believe that?!!

Beauty’s all around, even in the eyes of the tick :stuck_out_tongue:
A good day for y’all

Very nice saturation. It feels very lively even with so much out of focus.

@paperdigits the flowers are blushing, much appreciated

What I personally love 'bout macro style imaginary’s post process is studying the balance of its relating elements; between undefined (out of focus) regions, sharpness (porno detallito), tonality and magnification - composition should just settle in the process, says lazy 8.

I’m at zero level with GMIC (well with almost everything), but the tools it contains are of great interest to me as they allow very different approaches in the developing of an image. In this particular case I didn’t use any contrast’s curve (well except for the LUT); started with a very dull/flat surface and chiseled the colours out taking advantage of layer’s styles (soft light, grain extract, multiply, etc.) and opacities, also used the layer’s masks to gradually bring attention (focus) to buttercup flower and twig.

It all might all sound bullshitish… a gypsy palmist once told me in a past life I was a fly… cheers

That is interwsting and now that using GIMP dev and can stay 16-bit, I’ll have to play around with the layer styles and GMIC a bit more.

@paperdigits I honestly have not carried on proper testing to produce an empirical “it’s better” assessment, BUT if one is to push the pixls boundaries, and the programs allow, why not to do it (stay) within the 32bit floating rainbow? Photoflow, dev GIMP and GMIC, RPP, Darktable can deal with fat unicorns

I hadn’t considered 32 bit either… So many possibilities!

So many possibilities!

so right, yet the moss difficull is to do nazeen’  :high_heel:

You should crop that so the snail isn’t dead center.

something like this?

BTW I’ve been pushing hard with filters a 32b and a 16b (double chihuahua gradient map) image and must say, only after a lot of violence the 16 bit image started to cry and show ever so slightly signs of falling apart mainly due to banding… perhaps it doesn’t make so big a difference (?) // there it goes the unicorns symbology :stuck_out_tongue:
