Collections/albums?

Hi,

I was looking for albums/collections feature in RT, is it hidden somewhere or it just isn’t there?
Under linux it’s no problem to use symlinks, but under windows I can’t see workaround…

I don’t believe there is such a feature. There is the file browser only.

Collections are useful for grouping images together for joint view in the File Browser. They allow to create another layer over the filesystem, based on a simple text file with listing of included files. URI for the files would be in this case not file:///<path> but rt:fs:file://<path> Collections can be organized in XML files with the following simple structure: Code: Select all <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?> <rt_collection version='1'> <file uri='rt:fs:file:///C:/path/filename1.jpg'> <file uri='rt:fs:file:///C:/path/filename2.jpg'> <file uri='rt:fs:file:///C:/path/filename3.jpg'> </rt_collection> When browse path in RT is "collection:<collection_name.col>' RT should open the collection_name.col file, parse contents, and follow the same routine for displaying thumbnails as when browsing the filesystem directly, except uri for each file is provided individually from the collection_name.col file. Code for Browse path entry should be enhanced for interpreting collection:<collection_name.col uri List of Collections should be displayed in a separate tab, filesystem tree should be placed in another tab - there is no need to see them at the same time. List of collections should be loaded on startup. Collection can be deleted (entry removed from Collections list, and corresponding .col file deleted) New empty collection can be created (collection names must be unique, this will be enforced by filesystem, provide messagebox on error; new entry added to Collections list and new .col file created) Collection should be renameable (update entry in Collections list and rename .col file) Adding image to a collection should be via drag/drop, or thumbnail right-click /Add to Collection/<collection_name> The same file should not appear twice in the same collection. When viewing collection contents, thumbnail right-click menu should contain additional entries: -Remove from collection -Jump to filesystem location - RT will browse to image's path in filesystem All filters should continue working when browsing collection instead of a filesystem. .col files should be stored in OS-specific application data folder. Did you try symlinks on windows?

I did not try them for your use case but I made a symlink for my rt cache folder on windows to use the raid-0 instead of the ssd and that works fine.

Unfortunately RT doesn’t read symlinks inside file browser. Moreover I need admin privileges to create one, not sure why because i can delete as normal user. If those two are sorted this could be cool way of making albums after adding option to context menu.
