Color overlay issue

Hi there!

Could you please help me to do the following? I tried several times in several ways but cannot get a good result.

I would like to do the following, see attached image:

  • image 1 is the original, image 2 has a blue-ish color overlay: #00abb5

  • I would like to reproduce the color overlay so I can create an image like #2.

  • When I add a (normal) layer and use the paint bucket to fill it with color #00abb5 and play with the opacity %, the results are not what I am looking for.

So, how do I do it?

Many thanks!

Hi @PetervdW, and welcome!

a) What software are you talking about?

b) Operating system?

Have fun!

Sorry! I’m new here… I just placed my post into the GIMP section

  • Linux - Ubuntu
  • GIMP 2.10.30

I think the OP is watching for an application, whatever it is, able to get the result he wants.

Something like that with ART, but it’s not exactly the same
I did a desaturation with and an increase of exposure to get a washed out photo then applied a blue cast

If I wanted to reproduce that on some photos, I would build a haldclut.

Try creating a new layer of the desired blue and use different blend modes for the layer. I expect in gimp you will get what you want

Settings of the layers are in the names of the layers:

grafik

Result:

grafik

You can also desaturate original layer a little.
