I use digikam to manage my photos. I always used to use the version that came with my OS (Kubuntu 24.04.3) and it was able to load colour profiles correctly. Recently I moved over to the official app image (digiKam-8.7.0-Qt6-x86-64.appimage) and it no longer loads them. The monitor profile box is now greyed out where as before I could select my monitor profile.
Have I missed a setting around appimages somewhere, or is this a bug I should report?
I am having similar issues with Flatpaks (in general). I can’t answer your question directly, because I just don’t know, but I wonder if it is related to restrictions imposed by the AppImage packaging. It could just be a bug off course.
I am currently setting up a new installation in order to bypass the need for me to use Flatpaks. I am interested in any answers you get.
I imagine there’s a very high chance that it’s just an error with how the flatpack has been set-up, but a restriction in the format is possible as is the way the host OS has been configured. Either way it’s not appropriate for an imaging app. It’s making my photos look completely oversaturated.
Agreed about the Flatpak, no doubt how it’s permissions are configured during packaging. I just wondered if your appimage has a similar packaging issue.
Well, I don’t think you have missed a setting, I suspect it is either a bug or an issue with it being an appimage. Can you revert back to the version in the repo in the meanwhile?
