How do I compare the steps that I took between each VC?

If you have not compressed the history …each history stack should record all the steps in the order you did them. You can also look at the active modules tab to see what modules are active in each version of your edit…
You can do a diff on the xmp files. But that gives just different history entries, not different parameters, since these are encoded
