Thanks for this release. Lots of things to try and test out - especially the new and updated modules (“the big ones”).

As for most releases I translated the release notes to German, added some illustration and screenshots and put them here darktable 5.4 erschienen - AgX-Tonemapper, Capture Sharpening, Arbeitsbereiche on my blog

Always my favorite Christmas present! Except this year I started Christmas in October, with the nightly build, to get early access to AgX.

Another great release!

I’m not sure if this question has already been answered, but even if it has, it’s probably not a big deal: How can I financially support the Darktable developers? The open source apps I usually use often have a donate or buy me a coffee button. But I can’t find one for Darktable.

I want to join in and thank all the developers for this release. This time I was curious enough to tweak the nix package and update to 5.4.0 immediately, and was very happy to go on with my first experiments soon after. First impression is really, really nice, and Agx feels good in a way that sigmoid never did. I’m looking forward to enjoy all the small improvements as well.

A big shout out and a thousand thanks to all developers, maintainers and contributors for releasing this Christmas present. Happy winter solstice and Season’s greetings to all out there in the world of photography. Please stay healthy and all the best to you

Massive thanks to the devs and everyone who’s helped make darktable what it is. I’m going to be starting a begin here thread in my corporate photography group as I think this is a great jumping in point. AGX makes things so much more simple for beginners and all the other work just rounds out the tool.

Afaik none of the devs have an open donation platform. Maybe this release could be an opportunity for contributors to name a charity to donate to in their name, if they wanted?

Also one could donate to pixls.us.

I don’t take any monetary donations for many reasons but i would appreciate you donating to
A) obviously https://pixls.us
B) People in ukraine need all support we/you/i can give, so for that the first suggestion is “The Come Back Alive Foundation”, https://savelife.in.ua/en/

For those who are uncomfortable donating to purchase weapons, even defensive ones, there is a fund that collects donations for frontline medics, Leleka Foundation
