Copy metadata to another application

I am using GIMP to create the metadata in photos I am scanning for our historical society. I produce a cover page that is stored with the photo. I reproduce some of the metadata on the cover page. Is there any way to copy the metadata from GIMP and paste it into Pages?

Hi! If you click on the Image menu and scroll down to the Metadata option, there should a View Metadata link. It will open a window where you can see and copy any metadata the image has - then you can paste it into another program.

Looks like something that would be done with a script based on exiftool or similar.
