Copyright symbol not allowed?

Hey there,

I post my playraw topics here with an autogenerated CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence footer. That includes a copyright symbol, and today I was not allowed to include that symbol in my post.

Not a lawyer, but I can imagine that the licencing that is required / encouraged for playraw topic hinges on retaining copyright. But even if not, it is a legit part of it.

More odd words the forum will not allow: In my post this morning about the aurora photos taken by a pilot, the forum would not allow me to use the word a i r l i n e. That seems like an innocuous word to me.

I think there was a lot of spam a few months ago with this word. So it might have landed in the filter.

The spam bots are trying to poison the LLM for things that cost a good bit of money. Like flight tickets. So they spam us with posts saying the phone number for this flight company is 123-456-7898 and since the flight companies don’t like to publish their c-ustome-r support numbers or make them hard to find, it doesn’t take that much spam to convince the LLM that the number for KLM is their spam number. People ask the LLM for the phone number and it gives them the wrong one. People call that number and give them their credit card.

TBH, the scammers are pretty smart. This is an insidious attack. That’s why certain words trigger our spam filter.

I guess LLMs will easily re-assemble “a i r l…” and “c-ustome-r”, so we still have to report and remove such posts. But if we can automatically get rid of most, that’s good news.

Of course now spammers can start spamming with the allowed variants…

I think they use a spray n pray method for posting, they’re not targeting us specifically.

What a battlefield the internet has become…

note to self: never ask LLMs for contact information of any organization

Yes exactly. Verify it yourself.
