create gpx track from photos

Hi,

does anybody know how to create a gpx track from (smartphone) photos that are geotagged?

I tried exiftool but got this

anna@annazbook:~/Pictures/20241114$ exiftool -r -if "$gpsdatetime" -fileOrder gpsdatetime -p gpx.fmt /home/anna/Pictures/20241114 > /home/anna/Pictures/20241114/track.gpx
    1 directories scanned
   62 files failed condition
    0 image files read

The problem is apparently that both RawTherapee and ART delete GPS data that are embedded into the photos… didn’t try darktable yet.

Thanks in advance
Anna

Edit: I tried again, but digikam does not like the gpx file that was created (see attachment).
out.tar.gz (1004 Bytes). The track is not shown on the digikam gps correlator map.

Do youean on the exported files? What if you run the command on the original files?

If I edit Jpegs strait out of the smartphone with rawtherapee or art the gps data is deleted.
Just tested darkta, it doesn’t delete gps data.

I did do that for cresting the track, it’s just that digikam does not like that file.

The idea is to re add the gps data to the edited files with the help of the track and digikam.

I just looked via my phone and I can indeed see GPS coordinates in the JPGs I processed and exported from ART.

You’ll need to tick the check box for the desired location data on the Meta tab before exporting. I made that part of my default profile.

Where exactly is that? Screenshot?

Edit, ah, ok, found it, thanks!

Just fyi, there are some lua Scripts for darktable for georeferenced images. GeoJSON Export, Gpx Export, kml Export and the Geo toolbox.
