So this isn’t directly a Darktable question, but it is related. Does anyone know of an IOS (iPad) app that writes Darkatable compatible .xmp sidecar files? I’d like to do culling on my iPad and then copy the images and the .xmp files to my computer to further process with Darktable. I don’t want to edit the image on the iPad, just basic rating and tagging.
I found a few IOS apps that create/write .xmp files, but the naming of the sidecar is slightly different than what Darktable is looking for.
My current workflow uses DigiKam as my DAM and culling tool, and then I use Darktable for editing. This works great, but I’m traveling more, and culling shoots while I’m flying would be much more convenient.
Can’t you rename the XMP files before you import the images into darktable?

You dont need darktable .xmp style. You can use the standard one in the ipad app and when you import it into darktable, darktable will read it, load the ratings and create a darktable xmp.

But this is a one way street. Meaning, that once darktable reads it for import, it wont look at it again (unless you remove from database and delete the darktable.xmp). If you make changes after import in the ipad app, then darktable wont see them.
